Save Our Harvest — Rusty 4x4 Harvest Recovery Kit
Stuck in the mud? Tired of burning clutches? Struggling with heavy chains? Breaking equipment with chains and cables?
Harvest season doesn't wait — and neither should you. When a combine or tractor sinks into wet ground, every hour lost to a bad recovery is an hour of crop left standing. The Rusty 4x4 Harvest Recovery Kit is built to get your heavy equipment out fast, safely, and without turning a stuck machine into a broken one.
Why a Kinetic Rope Beats Chains and Cables on the Farm
Steel chains and cables recover through brute, static force. The moment you take up the slack, the full shock of the pull slams straight into your tow points, your gearbox, and your clutch — which is exactly how you end up with snapped chains and slings, torn-out recovery points, and clutch and drivetrain damage that costs far more than the recovery itself.
A kinetic recovery rope works differently. Our double braided nylon rope is designed to stretch under load, storing energy through the pull instead of transferring it as one violent jolt. That stored energy releases smoothly, walking heavy machinery like combine harvesters and tractors out of mud, silage pits, and soft ground with a controlled, progressive pull rather than a shock-load yank.
What that means for you on harvest days:
- No shockloading — the elastic stretch protects your recovery points, chassis, and drivetrain from the sudden impact that chains and cables deliver
- Safer, more controlled recovery — a smooth, progressive pull instead of a violent jerk means less risk to equipment and to the people connecting it
- No more costly repairs and downtime — easier gearboxes, clutches, and tow points
- Rated for real farm weight — built to handle the mass of combines, tractors, and other heavy harvest equipment, not just bakkies and light vehicles
- Faster back to work — get equipment moving again in one clean pull instead of repeated chain resets and burnt-out clutches
Choosing the Right Rope Rating for Your Tractor
Rope rating isn't guesswork — it's about matching the rope to the weight of the vehicle doing the pulling, with enough safety margin to absorb the dynamic forces of a kinetic recovery. We recommend a minimum safety factor of 3x the GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) of the tractor doing the pulling:
- Tractor GVM under 16 tonnes → the 48-Ton rope is your ideal choice
- Tractor GVM 16–24 tonnes → step up to the 72-Ton rope
Sticking to this 3x safety factor keeps the rope working well within its rated capacity, giving you a safer, more controlled recovery and a longer working life out of your gear. If the rope is too heavy then you don't get enough stretch and if it is too light, it stretches too easily and does not do enough pulling - risking over stretching the rope. As such a 3x - 4x safety factor is most ideal.
Made in Afrika, for Afrika
Built for our local farmers — excelling in heavy black-turf mud, waterlogged fields, and long harvest days where downtime isn't an option. All necessary steps should always be taken though to dig out as much as possible and to remove any obstacles or mud slopes infront of any wheels.
What's in the 72-Ton and 48-Ton Harvest Recovery Kit
- 1x 6 Meter Bridle
- 2x 48-Ton Soft Shackles
- 2x 72-Ton Soft Shackles
- 1x 72-Ton or 48-Ton, 20 Meter Dynamic Double Braided Nylon Rope
Don't let mud cost you your harvest. Gear up with a recovery kit engineered for the weight, the conditions, and the stakes of farm work.

Legal Disclaimer
It is paramount to underscore that the improper use of kinetic ropes can pose severe risks to both individuals and property. Due to the remarkable stretch capability, exceeding 20% of its length, the kinetic energy generated during recovery or towing can surpass the structural limits of anchoring points, connectors (such as shackles), or the kinetic rope itself. This elastic property can lead to a potentially dangerous slingshot effect, resulting in significant harm or damage.
Rusty 4x4 assumes no liability for any injury or property damage arising from the use of these kinetic ropes. It is imperative to exercise extreme caution, adhere to safety guidelines, and receive proper training when employing such equipment in recovery operations. Safety should always be the foremost consideration when dealing with kinetic ropes to mitigate potential risks effectively.
